Band Biography:

Longwaydown is a rock band from Edmonton, AB, Canada currently recording material for a new EP in Vancouver, BC, with producer Jeff Dawson (State of Shock, Art of Dying, The Dudes) and mixer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Mother Mother) slated for release in the spring of 2012.

Summer 2011 performance highlights included Slave Lake AB’s ‘Concert of Hope‘ – a benefit concert put on by the town of Slave Lake donated potions of the proceeds to numerous families affected by devastating wild fires that caused over 700 million dollars in damage and left people homeless. The 3 day event attracted over 10,000 people and featured a wide range of acts from across North America.

Longwaydown’s first release – 2006′s Trying Times yields seven high energy rock tracks including the ‘Great American Song’ honor award and regional Canadian Radio Star award winning ‘Sick of it All’ and the war-driven / extreme sports rock anthem ‘Around the Bend’. The disc features the notable presence of session drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Seger, John Fogerty and the Rolling Stones among others). The polished hard rock sound of Trying Times is fortified by the work of mixer Bill Kennedy (Megadeth, Nine Inch Nails, Econoline Crush) and mastering guru Tom Baker (Stone Temple Pilots, 30 Seconds to Mars, Rob Zombie).

‘Sick of it All’, ‘Around the Bend’ and ‘No Excuses’ charted nationally in Canada through 2007/08, with additional selections from Trying Times used on various ‘extreme sports’ DVD productions, compilations and film soundtracks since it’s release. ‘No Excuses’ was featured on the soundtrack for the 2009 film ‘Howard & Betty‘ while ‘Around the Bend’ has been used on numerous occasions including the theme song for the 2009 AJHL Championship Hockey Team ‘Grande Prairie Storm‘ promotional campaign, 2008 Monster Pro Wresting Association and 2007 Maximum Fighting Championship Promotional Television and Radio Campaign.

Longwaydown have performed, toured and shared the stage with the likes of fellow Canadian acts such as Sam Roberts, Thornley, State of Shock, Default, Econoline Crush, The Trews, Mobile, Armchair Cynics, Pride Tiger, Hollerado and Crash Karma among others.

The band has showcased at Canadian Music Week as a regional winner of Canadian Music Week’s Radiostar competition, North by North East and New Music West in addition to performing at some of Western Canada’s premier outdoor summer rock festivals such as Grande Prairie, AB’s annual ‘Summerslam’, Slave Lake AB’s ‘Sawfest’ and 5 consecutive appearances at Gibbons, AB’s ‘Boonstock’.

Longwaydown are poised to add to their growing list of musical ventures as this new release showcases the growth and maturity of the band’s songwriting and performance abilities. A 2012 promotional campaign is now in the works for the new material and a busy 2012 tour schedule expected to follow.
